Please complete and submit the form below, along with the requested attachments and a non-refundable $60 application fee.

In the supporting documents section of your application, you will upload the following in a Word or PDF document:

  • A personal statement explaining your interest in journalism and what you would like to gain from attending our program (400 – 500 word limit). On your personal statement letter include your full name, date of birth, and email address at the top of the letter.
  • Recommendation letter (required for On-Campus; optional for Learn-from-Home) from a teacher who knows you, and able to speak on your writing skills, interest in journalism, your experience and how you would benefit from the program. Each recommendation letter should include your teacher’s full name, their title, school address, and email address. If you are an international student and English is not your first language, we strongly encourage you to submit a recommendation letter; your teacher should include in their letter your level of comprehending, writing and speaking the English language. Applicants can choose to upload their recommendation letter to their application or have their teacher email their recommendation letter to us at We will only contact your teacher if we have any questions about their recommendation letter or have not received their letter.
  • Writing sample (required for On-Campus; optional for Learn-from-Home), preferably a clip from your school newspaper or news site or, alternatively, a composition in the third-person demonstrating clarity and gathering of facts.

After our office receives your completed application (including your personal statement and recommendation letter), we will email you within two weeks with our decision and next steps. (Please check your SPAM or junk folder.)  Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
