Application, Part 2
Thank you for applying to attend the 2021 Boston University Summer Journalism Academy.
This is the second half of the application. To complete it, you’ll need to upload the following documents:
- Recommendation letter from a teacher who knows you, and able to speak on your writing skills, interest in journalism, your experience and how you would benefit from the program. Each recommendation letter should include your teacher’s full name, their title, school address, and email address. If you are an international student and English is not your first language, please have your teacher include in their recommendation letter your level of comprehending, writing and speaking the English language.
- A personal statement explaining your interest in journalism and what you would like to gain from attending our program (400-500 word limit). On your personal statement letter include your full name, date of birth, and email address at the top of the letter.
After you submit this form, we will notify you within two weeks of your acceptance to the program and the next steps. Decisions are made on a rolling basis.

Boston University may cancel or consolidate sessions pending the number of registrants. Should a change in schedule occur, students will be given an opportunity to shift to another session or receive a full refund.
